IN MEMORIAM: MR. RAVOOF: AS I KNEW HIM BY MR. SHEIK P. NOORUDDIN SAHIB - CRESCENT WEEKLY DATED 7TH OCTOBER 1975

IN MEMORIAM: MR. RAVOOF AS I KNEW HIM BY SHEIK P. NOORUDDIN

Ravoof Sab, as Mr. A. A. Ravoof was endearingly called, was in his lifetime an unforgettable person and has now in his death, become one who will be long remembered not only by his family and friends but by all who had come into contact with him.

I first met him far back in 1940 during his visit to Nalgonda to preside over the first annual conference of the local branch of the Muslim Youth Majlis. He had come there not in his capacity as the Editor of the “Deccan Times” but as 'Bhayya,' who conducted in that premier Muslim English weekly of undivided India, the popular Youth Forum, 'Muslim Youth Majlis' which had hundreds of members all over the country. He impressed me as a most affable and loveable person and later I had occasion to see him as a 'Bhayya' not only in letter but also in spirit – a brother, kind and considerate, ever ready to lend a helping hand towards others.

FRIEND, PHILOSOPHER, GUIDE

My article paved the way for my joining the “Deccan Times” under the editorship of Mr. Ravoof. Soon after my graduation, I wrote him a letter expressing my desire to join his weekly and he readily obliged by taking me in as his Assistant. He was not a domineering 'Chief' but one who turned out to be my 'friend, philosopher and guide' in journalism. He used to point out the errors of omission and commission of his juniors in a very graceful manner and allowed them full freedom and scope for the development of their inherent ability. He had a knack of discovering and encouraging new talents. Of them, Yusuf Afghan would have made a high mark in the fourth estate but for the premature touch of the icy hands of death. Another writer moulded by him is the present head of the department of journalism at the Sind University Mr.Shareef Al Mujahid.

Mr. Ravoof was a versatile writer with a facile pen. In the early days he had contributed short stories, skits and articles to many leading papers and periodicals in India. His articles were noted for their brevity and lucidity. His weekly column: At Random by Razi in a lighter vein and a racy style, was very popular with the readers. His editorials, penned without fear or favour, were marked by depth of analysis and breadth of vision.

NEHRU’S WRATH

Once Mr. Ravoof courted the wrath of free India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Cause: A front-page article in the “Deccan Times” entitled “A Report to Nehru.” It was a factual story listing the grievances of the Indian Muslims after partition and the need for government redress and published on the eve of one of Nehru’s visits to Madras. However, in a flash of mood, Nehru declared before a mammoth meeting at the Marina Beach to the effect that such editors had no place in the country.

STAR

After partition, due to the changed circumstances, the “Deccan Times” had to close down and he started the “Star” which unfortunately proved a morning star that disappears after a brief while. During the lean years that followed he kept himself buoyed with his inborn sense of humour, what more, he wrote a book: “Nehru, the Man” focussing on an ungouched aspect of the ebullient leader, namely his deep human-ness and humour.

It was at this time that some of the directors of the Board of Islamic Publications at Delhi came all the way to Ambur to persuade him to become the Editor of “Radiance” to be started by them. His unassuming sense of service to his community made him accede to their request. He laid the necessary groundwork for the weekly and soon built it up on firm foundations. However, as ill-luck would have it, after about a year, he had to return home due to an unexpected development of a severe heart ailment which remained with him till his late days.

Like the crescent rising after the end of the waning moon, he started the "Crescent" weekly with the help of Mr. Abdus Samad, M.P. in 1969. And despite his frequent ailments, he strove his best to keep it going. He had plans to make it better and brighter, but alas death came soon and he and his family are left to fulfil his other cherished plans to publish a Directory and Who’s Who of leading Muslims and write a biography of Sadat and an authentic history of the Muslim League after partition.
The “Crescent” symbolised the best side of his nature. Even in the midst of darkness he hoped for the new moon, a positive optimist that he was who deemed a tumbler half full, not half empty. In fact, it was his message to those who came to him with their problems and difficulties. Whatever his worries, he never preoccupied: he was, he never failed to welcome any visitor, be he old or young, with a benign smile on his face, and sweet welcome on his lips.

Never was there a dull moment in his company. He was as good a conversationalist as he was a writer. Indeed, he was a walking encyclopaedia of facts and figures, a storehouse of knowledge on various aspects of life and, above all, personification of genial wit and humour. As the occasion demanded, he would relate an apt anecdote or make a sitting 'quote' of some great man, and sometime he would recite a couplet from Urdu and Persian literature, all in his own characteristic way which pleased all and offended none.

In him one found an affectionate father and a loyal friend. In his service to his community and country, he voluntarily courted hard and austere life. Yes, he was such a person that after his passing away, every one had only a good word to say about him. And, it was Allah’s will that his end should come on a sacred night – the night of Shabe Barat when, it is said, men’s prayers for his infinite mercy and remission of sins are heard. May his soul rest in peace!

CRESCENT WEEKLY dated 7th October 1975.

MOTHER'S LETTER TO DAUGHTER

FROM MOTHER'S TO DAUGHTER -1

Mary Nafeesa Sahiba in Crescent Weekly Ramazan Eid Special dated 7th October 1975.

 My dear Fathima, Assalamu Alaikum.

No doubt you would be wondering what has happened to me, why I have not been writing to you, and so on. What can I do? Who told me, in my old age, to work so hard for another examination? Anyway, since I asked for it, it was upto me to work hard and keep up the reputation, all of you have given me, as an indefatigable hard worker! By the grace of Allah, all went well and I attended the convocation about which I will tell you later. There are other things I wish to say now.

I have been looking up the statistics of our girls entering various educational institutions, Pre-Arts, Secondary, University, girls taking degrees, taking up careers, girls qualifying themselves for everything from house-keeping to the Administrative Services. The number is increasing year by year. The number of drop-outs from schools, or literates able to read and write aided by various media, the newspapers, magazines, radio, wall posters, the cinema and now the television.

Progress Dismays

I have every reason to be elated, I suppose, by this progress our girls are making, I’m not feeling elated at all. I look around me at this progress, and feel hurt, let down and helpless. Oh, Fathima, this progress dismays and if I say, I’m sure you deserve an explanation.

You see, my girl, even today in the West, people think that Muslim women are second class citizens of Islam! They do not care to know of the status, the dignified, honourable status, that Islam offers a woman if she would but take the trouble to understand it, and after all when our own women also do not bother to learn what their position is, why and how can we expect others to know or try to get at the truth of it?

And why am I depressed? All this is only too well-known. Do they do? They somehow admit their children to schools. Once a child starts going to school, naturally 10%, I’m sure can and do attend religious instructions at home. The other 90% don't. Regarding modesty, not only their dress, but all sorts of things, in general, are current. In the material way lay hands on, in earlier 20’s or the later, it is not all conducive to the development of the character. Inspite of the glory that was Indian in our literature, today the fashion is to produce literature generally that borders on the vulgar and the obscene - all in the name of various "realities"!

No Sense of Social Values

Swept by this tide, our girls especially, find themselves marooned on an island of ignorance. No training in religion at home; none in schools and colleges if they’re Government institutions based on other religions if the institutions are managed by various other communities. They pick up something here and there and as they grow up, neither do I see in them an awareness of religion, nor do I find in them a sense of social values. Perhaps it would not be wrong to say that irrespective of religious backgrounds, most of our young people are like that. Perhaps you may not agree. I don’t know.

I would like to dedicate these thoughts to the memory of my beloved Bhayya, marhoom A. A. Ravoof Saheb, whose deep insight, unfailing judgement, understanding and encouragement have all contributed, in the largest measure, in making me what I am today. My tears are shed, nor should I shed more, for I have to save them to irrigate the barren fields of ignorance—the least I can do to honour Bhayya’s memory! NAFEESA

More in my next. Meanwhile, wishing you a very happy Eidul Fitr. Vassalam.

Your loving

NAFEESA

PROFILE : KING KHALID BY MR. A.A. RAVOOF SAHIB, AMBUR PUBLISHED IN ECONOMIC FORUM DATED JUNE 1975

PROFILE : KING KHALID BY MR. A.A. RAVOOF

When Khalid ibn Abdul Azeez ascended the throne of Saudi Arabia on the assassination of his elder half-brother King Faisal in the last week of March, on the Prophet's birth day, many did not know much about him. And the few who knew a little wondered how this reluctant monarch, this man who shunned the limelight of publicity and who as a man of the desert, preferred to spend his time with the Bedouin tribes, cultivating contacts with them, who as a lover of wild life founded a local zoo and who as an ardent shikari, hunted big game and decorated the walls of his palace in Riyadh with tiger heads and elephant tusks, can make a good successor to Faisal who by his sagacity exercised powerful influence on West Asian politics and who by his oil diplomacy, had placed a number of developed western countries at Arab mercy.

But opportunities make a man. Khalid, left to himself, would have had nothing to do with the monarchy. But the House of Saud, consisting of over three thousand princes and two thousand princesses which is really the power behind the throne, very thoughtfully, avert family disputes by settling the question of succession long before tragedy overtakes the ruler. That was so in the case of King Faisal. When Khalid found that in view of the unanimous family mandate, there was no escape for him from the onerous responsibilities of kingship, he accepted it gracefully.  Not only that. He also demonstrated that he was a man of quick and sound judgement. When there was divided opinion about thr real intention of the assassin, some calling it the act of a demented ma, some suspecting Israeli hand in it and some others fearing CIA involvement, while others thought it was part of a palace revolution, the king set all doubts at rest, by declaring that it was God's will and that the prince was acting on his own. This was shrewd statesmanship at a difficult time. Khalid proved he could rise to the occasion.

Good Samaritan: Born in Riyadh in 1913 and educated at schools attached to the mosques by Muslim divines. Khalid did not take place in any military operations worth the name. But he represented his country at a number of international conferences. It is said that he negotiated with great skill the Yemen border settlement.

He might not have made a mark in political affairs where Faizal had undisputed sway. But as a simple and unassuming prince he was both a family man and a good samaritan. He is deeply attached to his wife, five sons and seven daughters. He is helpful by nature, rushing to the rescue of not only those who are in trouble but also those who merely feign a limp.

Khalid was a sports lover from his youth and the best game he loved was camel race. This continues to this day. After he became King, he chanced to see a documentary on the annual camel race in Australia. He He was so much touched by it that he told the visiting Australian Deputy Prime Minister Dr, Jim Cairns that he would like some of the fleet-footed dromedaries for his racing stables. The Australian government readily responded -four wild camels are now on their way to Jiddah  as a special gift to the new monarch.

Policy Statement

In his first policy statement as King, he declared Saudi Arabia would follow the policy of the late King Faisal to the letter, the policy based on Islamic solodarity, the reinforcement of genuine Arab unity and international peace, the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people, the return of Jerusalem to Arab sovereignty and and the liberation of all Arab territories occupied by Israelis since 1967.

He laid emphasis on "Shawra"- the consultative system of administration based on the teachings of Islam. Khalid explained: "My late brother had initiated the work for the fundamental law and my government is fully committed to the implementation of the same." He added that the Islamic Sharia has been and will continue to be starting point from which we proceed and for the aim which we seek. We shall seek counsel from its principles and guidance from its light."

FROM MOTHER TO DAUGHTER

FROM MOTHER TO DAUGHER

TRUE ISLAMIC WOMEN – An article by Mary Nafeesa sahiba published in Crescent dated Oct. 26, 1975:

My dear Fathima, Assalamu Alaikum

I see some of the parents of these girls, they seem to know something of religion and keen on observing religious practices. The women are modest in their dress and cover their heads. Their daughters get educated, begin to wear blouses that reveal a little more than should, do not want to cover their heads, and find it difficult to learn their religion !

I see other parents educated, religious, and their children learn from their parents. I also see sophisticated, ultra-modern city-dwellers, whose children seem to be lost (along with their parents) to Islam !

I can hear you murmur that it is the environment in which they have been placed, that has made our girls, all that I describe. Perhaps, yes! But then Fathima, I also in various walks of life – medical, teaching and what have you, the elder women who have failed and are failinf to set models, failing to set standards.

INDIVIDUAL IDENTITY

As a responsible teacher, I feel frustrated, and God save me. I ask myself the question during the few years that our girls spend with me, what have I offered them? Have I co-operated with my colleagues in impressing on our girls the necessity to retain and be proud of their individual identity? Have my colleagues helped me on these lines? Have we as teachers, taught our students what character, discipline and ideal citizenship are? Have we given our girls- I mean our Muslim girls – the training we owe them in order to make them truly Islamic women, capable of teaching their children in turn?

Too many questions Fathima, too many of them. How shall I tell you without a pain in my heart, that many of us are failing in our duty? This is why Fathima, I insist on your praying before everything else. That is why I am not very keen on, well, in fact, I am against, your eager plans to develop your dramatic talents. After your studies, I would much prefer that you should read the holy Quran and translations and commentary, a few verses each day.

How many of our girls say their prayers with understanding and feeling? And after going through years of “education”, what is the use if our girls do not acquire the initiative to learn their own religion?

And if they don’t, what is going to happen to their children and the future generations?

Tell me now, Fathima, whether or not, I have reason to be dismayed and frustrated?

I wish and pray that we follow the Right Path shown to us by Allah and His prophet, and above all, with that our teachers, men and women, would discharge their responsibilities to the future generation, so that we could hope for mercy on the Day of Judgement.

Wassalam.

                                                             IN MEMORY OF

                                       A.A. RAVOOF SAHIB

By Mr. S. Abdul Ghaffar sahib in Crescent dated 26th October 1975

"To meet, to know,

to love and then to part

is the sad tale of many

a human heart."

On the night of the 22nd of Augusr 1975, a scintillating star slipped of the journalistic horizon, Janab A.A. Ravoof saheb, who strode the world of Muslim journalism like colosses for nearly four decades, left this world after performing his prayers which were to be his last prayers of his life on "Shabe Qadar". It seems as though God needed him more in the Celestial abode than we in the terrestrial region.

To meet Ravoof saheb was simply to love him. Any stranger who met him got the impression that he was treated like a life-long friend. Amiable by disposition and genial by temperament Ravoof saheb endeared himself to one and all.

LOVERS OF IQBAL AND GHALIB

My association with him lasted half a decade. But I cherish with love and gratitude every meeting of mine with him. Hardly was there an occasion when our conversations were not lively.

Being ardent lovers of Iqbal and Ghalib we used to ravel in recitation of Urdu couplets. Once he was very busy with his works. Not wanting to disturb him, I remained silent for a while skipping over a magazine lying on his table. Suddenly, he stopped writing and turning towards me, recited this verse from Iqbal:

"Yah khamushi kahan tak,

       lazzate faryad paida kar"

I promply replied with a couplet from the same poet:

"Nahin minnat kashe taabe

            shuneedan dastaan meri

Khamushi guftugu hai

             bezubani hai zuban meri"

Ravoof saheb felt so happy at this as to remark that there was a mini 'Mushaira' at the Crescent office. But our mini 'mushairas' were not confined to "Crescent" office. They were held during our telephonic conversation too.

I have a flair for writing which began from my college days. I leaving the college, I contributed articles to a few leading newspapers and when "Radiance" radiated from Delhi, I took more interest in that Muslim journal. But real opportunities for the full satisfaction of my inner urge to write came when the "Crescent" appeared on the horizon of Madras under the able editorship of Ravoof saheb. This gave me many pleasant opportunities of meeting this great man who was a "gem of the purest ray serene".

PERSONAL LETTERS

It was my proud privilege to receive personal letters from him asking me to contribute articles for the special issues of "Crescent" and at the same time, making kind enquiries of my family. I remember it was in 1970 that for certain unavoidable reasons I could neither write for the weekly nor could I see him for a few weeks. One day, after finishing the day's work, he, along with his right hand man, Janab Jalal Zackariah saheb, honoured me by his visit to my house. After making kind enquiries and finding me O.K., he said: Now I am terribly relieved of my anxiety." Such was the affection he had for me.

Ravoof sahib believed in hard work. On more than one occasion he told me that he was never afraid of hard work. Though his heart was weak - he had suffered from heart ailment- he possessed indomitable will and invincible courage.

Sullen life is no life at all. Life is to be pleasant, should be marked by civilised humour. Ravoof saheb was noted for his witty humour. Once I asked him why some writers reproduce copy-right material without due permission. Pat came the reply: "Because, copy-right is their right to copy." Ravoof saheb's intellect was as sharp as razor and his heart as soft as velvet".

To be a prolofic writer, one should be a voracious reader. Ravoof saheb was a man of vast learning who can be described as a walking encyclopaedia. According to him, books are the most useful and most harmless companions of man. They speak to you only when you go to them. Otherwise, they rest where they are kept.

SIMPLE STYLE

Simplicity of style in writing is not that easy. Ravoof saheb's style was unique in that his diction was simply superb. Beautiful phrases and idioms flowed from his pen with tremendous ease and power.

He was a conscientious man. Otherwise he would have had drawn fat salary in any National newspaper. When I asked him why he had rejected the offer of a post in a leading daily in Madras, he said that acceptance of the offer meant smoothering of his conscience, for, he might have been forced to write in a manner prejudicial to the interest of the Muslim community.

Editors aregenerally supposed to be squeamish. But Ravoof saheb was an editor with a difference. He gave due credit to an article and at the same time showed a knack of correcting the contributor. In one of my visits to "Crescent" office, he told me with his characteristic smile, even before I took my seat after greeting him, "Ghaffar saheb, I am sure you know that brevity is the soul of wit" hinting at my two previous articles, which were a bit lengthy. He explained to me the demerits of lengthy articles and said that it was the brief and precise articles that caught the attention of readers. He would not like to abridge my articles but wanted me to edit them myself before I send them for publication.

VERSATILE GENIUS

Humility was his forte despite his being a versatile genius. Once I had an article ready for "Crescent". I wanted to hand it over to him personally at the New College auditorium where Meeland lectures were being held. I hesitated but somehow I summoned courage to ring up to him to enquire whether I could give it to him at the meeting hall that evening. He exclaimed: Why  do you hesitate? Are we not brothers ? These words are still ringing in my ears.

If Ravoof sahib was a gentleman to the tips of his fingers, he was also a patriot to the marrow of his bones. In his writings he suggested effective ways and means of making India strong, united and prosperous.

Spirit of selfless and dedicated service to the Muslim community dominated his life. Once , as I was talking to him in the office, he received a trunk call informing him of a communal clash in a North Arcot town. Muslim boys were the victims and a Muslim institution was the target of attack by the hooligans. Ravoof saheb grew restless going over to the phone now and then to make anxious enquiries. He was very upset. I said to myself: Here is the man who has the real concern for the community. His writings were marked by sincerity. He wrote what he sincerely felt.

He never cared for name and fame and devoted his time and talent to the service of the community in an exemplary manner. Those who know him would easily rank him among the most distinguished Muslim personalities of India.

MUSLIM DIRECTORY

In his last days he had been busy compiling "Muslim Directory: who is who." Its objective was to publicise the contributions made by the Muslims in different walks of life so that this may spur them on to greater efforts. The Muslims should shed their inferiority complex and prove that theyn are second to none in nation-building activities. Unfortunately, he did not live to see its publication.

Such was Ravoof, the man, the journalist, the writer and the poet. Alas! We miss him and mis him very badly. Bur however good a man may be and whatever be his contributionsto society, he is bound to succumb to the icy hand of death one day. And so, Ravoof saheb has gone the way of all flesh. But then as Iqbal has so beautifully put it, death can snatch away our near and dear ones only. It can never take away the love we cherish for the departed soul. This love lives forever in our hearts in the form of sorrow.

"ishq kuch mahboob ke

       marne se ma jata nahin,

Rooh me gham ban ke rahta

        hai magar jata nahin."

Ravoof saheb's life was noble and worthy. How well has Hellen Keller has said, "Life is an exciting business, it is more exciting when it is lived for others." Our beloved Ravoof sahib lived and died for the Muslim community. May his charming personality guide not only the present generation of Muslim journalists but also the generations yet unborn. Aameen.

                      A PEN PORTRAIT

By Mr. K.S. Ahmed Pasha sahib in Crescent dated 26th Oct.1975

Mr. A.A. Ravoof sahib, who is a house-hold name in the field of journalism (in Ambur) passed away on 22nd August 1975 leaving behind a trail of fragrance for his noble deeds.

In a world where thoughtless people fight for vain glory and name by self-advertisement, his was a simple life led with a true Islamic spirit of dedication. With a single minded devotion, he took to journalistic career, knowing pretty well that it is no bed of roses. He did succeed in this field in his own inimitable way radiating in all his writings a deep depth of warmth that melted even the hearts of his opponents, who did not take kindly to his journalistic profession especially in a town of his birth Ambur known for people for whom business is much more than anything else. The hallmark of all his writings was sincerity and truth. He possessed a keen insight into men and matters and exerted himself unsparingly in bringing home to the common man the hard facts of life that success comes only to those who strive hard.

CHIEF MINISTER'S TRIBUTES

Mr. Ravoof was Editor of "Deccan Times", a fearless and only Muslim weekly in the South in those turbulent times before independence. He was for sometime the Founder Editor of "Radiance", Delhi till he became the Editor of "Crescent", again the only Muslim weekly in the South. I was present on the occasion when this paper was christened by our Chief Minister Thiru K. Karunanidhi who paid rich tributes to him and its publisher Mr. A.K.A. Abdul Samad sahib, M.P.

Mr. Ravoof sahib has departed from this mundane world leaving the paper he has reared in the hands of his inseparable companion and friend Mr. Jalal Zakariah sahib, who needs our help and co-operation.

Mr. A.A. Ravoof sahib was also Correspondent of Mazharul Uloom High School, Ambur and under his mantle of stewardship this institution grew to occupy its proud place as we find it today. A fitting memorial needs to be raised in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of education.

We deeply mourn his loss. May his soul rest in peace. Aameen.

Some people have written and said in videos that the New York Mayor elect Mr. Zohran Mamdani will one day become even President of USA. I dont think it is possible because one who is not an American citizen from birth, it is said, cannot become American President !

Mr. Zohran's win shows the American people are magnanimus and right thinking. They elected a person as Mayor of New York with the ardent hope that he would fulfil the promises made - free bus travel, free child care, freeze on frequent rent increase etc.

May Zohrani succeed in going to the rescue of the suffering people by fulfilling the promises made. Our best wishes and prayers to this young, energetic and ambitious Indian root Muslim.

 Azeez Luthfullah sahib says:

I think the bigger, broader point to be noted is that the phenomenon of Zohran happened because Zohran Mamdani was more focused on basic issues affecting all. He was not apologetic about his Muslim roots, passion of biriyani or Hindi songs etc. His aim have always been to sell the idea of affordable city to all types and categories of people. There in he succeeded in connecting with the people. His Muslim Identity is just an add on. Just like having bagaara baigan கத்திரிக்காய் கூட்டு with mouth watering biriyani.

The New Yorkers didn't vote him because he is a Muslim. They voted because of his promises and they were convinced that he would deliver. Muslims are happy because he has demolished the Islamophobia in his quest for good governance. That's all. There is nothing Islamic in his victory

Azeez Luthfullah sahib has rightly said that "the phenomenon of Zohran Mamdani happened because he focussed more on basic issues affecting all". Very true, and this focus emanated from his Islamic and Indian background. He declared that he would work for the uplift of the poor sections of the community. In other words he declared jana seva or khidmate khalq. I feel his mission is Islamic.

The beauty of Americans is that they elected him to the post of New York mayor despite the fact that he is an Indian, he is a Muslim. This was possible in USA. It is a great thing. In America many things we see happening are Islamic.

Getting approval of the people for our sayins is a Himalayan task. Zohran Mamdani has succeeded in achieving this and their votes. His politics is worth adopting everywhere. A miracle has happened in New York. We wish him all the best and pray for successful implementation of his promises.

The Mamdani win also proves that all religious communities including Jews voted for him.It shows their genorocity.

Zohran Mamdani's win is an exemplary one.

 To

The Editor, Deccan Chronicle, Chennai

Dear Sir,

We are proud of our India which is on the forward march at least in some states. The news that Kerala ends extreme poverty and leads India’s growth story makes us happy beyond expression. In my letter published in Deccan Chronicle dated May 17, 2014 I had said inter-alia that “the big victory of the BJP and its allies proves that it is a mandate for change. It is hoped that Mr. Narendra Modi who is mainly instrumental for this great victory revolving on his development plans will endeavour his best to make India a progressive, peaceful and prosperous country treating people of all languages, cultures and religions as one without any discrimination”. It was also said that Mr. Narendra Modi and his government will stand for “progress and prosperity” and nothing else”. In the present scenario of disappointment of our expectations due to unsatisfactory performance of the BJP led NDA government at the Centre, the shining news that Kerala ends extreme poverty gives us Indians a hope that other states will follow this inspiring and shining Kerala example and try their best to eradicate poverty and bring smile to the suffering people. Kudos to the Kerala government for its great and exemplary achievement.

Yours truly,

V. M. Khaleelur Rahman, Ambur
