                      A PEN PORTRAIT

By Mr. K.S. Ahmed Pasha sahib in Crescent dated 26th Oct.1975

Mr. A.A. Ravoof sahib, who is a house-hold name in the field of journalism (in Ambur) passed away on 22nd August 1975 leaving behind a trail of fragrance for his noble deeds.

In a world where thoughtless people fight for vain glory and name by self-advertisement, his was a simple life led with a true Islamic spirit of dedication. With a single minded devotion, he took to journalistic career, knowing pretty well that it is no bed of roses. He did succeed in this field in his own inimitable way radiating in all his writings a deep depth of warmth that melted even the hearts of his opponents, who did not take kindly to his journalistic profession especially in a town of his birth Ambur known for people for whom business is much more than anything else. The hallmark of all his writings was sincerity and truth. He possessed a keen insight into men and matters and exerted himself unsparingly in bringing home to the common man the hard facts of life that success comes only to those who strive hard.

CHIEF MINISTER'S TRIBUTES

Mr. Ravoof was Editor of "Deccan Times", a fearless and only Muslim weekly in the South in those turbulent times before independence. He was for sometime the Founder Editor of "Radiance", Delhi till he became the Editor of "Crescent", again the only Muslim weekly in the South. I was present on the occasion when this paper was christened by our Chief Minister Thiru K. Karunanidhi who paid rich tributes to him and its publisher Mr. A.K.A. Abdul Samad sahib, M.P.

Mr. Ravoof sahib has departed from this mundane world leaving the paper he has reared in the hands of his inseparable companion and friend Mr. Jalal Zakariah sahib, who needs our help and co-operation.

Mr. A.A. Ravoof sahib was also Correspondent of Mazharul Uloom High School, Ambur and under his mantle of stewardship this institution grew to occupy its proud place as we find it today. A fitting memorial needs to be raised in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of education.

We deeply mourn his loss. May his soul rest in peace. Aameen.
