REMEMBERING THE GREAT DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM

Today is the 4th death anniversary of the great Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the great scientist and former President of India. He left us in Shillong on Monday, 27th July 2015. Let us remember him and pay tributes to him by praying for his maghfirath. May his soul rest in peace. 

Dr. Kalam was the people’s President. All liked him and more so the students from elementary to college levels. We, the people of Ambur, were lucky to have him in our midst. He came to Ambur at the invitation of the Ambur Muslim Educational Society (AMES) and inaugurated its Centenary Celebrations held on 5^th and 6^th September 2006 in the campus of the Mazharul Uloom Higher Secondary School, Ambur.  The inaugural function took place on 4^th September 2006 along with Question-Answer session. 

Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam’s inaugural address was illuminating, power-packed and question-answer session full of wise thoughts, so necessary for everyone particularly the students who are to shape the destiny of our country –the beautiful India – in future.

We must be proud that Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a scientist par excellence, who was determined to mould the minds of the students for better India and make India a developed nation before 2020 was the President of India. 

Dr. Kalam was a great “ teacher ” worth the name. He gave importance to the teaching profession and encouraged students to dream their goals and endeavour their best to achieve them. He asked everyone to be honest and clean our society from evils like corruption.

I still remember how the people of Ambur were delighted in welcoming him at Ambur and listening to his lecture and interaction with the students which were full of honest and inspiring advice. He felt at home in the midst of the people there and wished them well.

At that time Mr. Chand Basha was the Headmaster of the Mazharul Uloom Higher Secondary School. This is one of the six institutions established and managed by the Ambur Muslim Educational Society including a full fledged Science and Arts College. He was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Abdul Kalam called him to the dais and handed over some books for the school. All this shows the intense interest he had in the spread of education and knowledge. He strongly believed that it is education which can change ones destiny for better and make our country a progressive and prosperous one. 

Dr. Abdul Kalam will always be remembered for his role as an excellent scientist, as a people’s president, as a good writer and orator and  most importantly as a humble and genuine human being. It is amazing how he carried himself and mingled with people both rich and poor. His simplicity and good nature won hearts and his words and inspirational speeches made people think and work for a better and bright future. 

Dr. Kalam was a man of principles and led a simple life working for the country and inspiring the people, particularly students, till his last. His passing away was so sudden. There is a good lesson even in his so simple passing away which can be described as a mercy of the Almighty Allah. 

The nation will always remember him. May his soul rest in peace.

Chennai Leather Market - July 2019

CHENNAI  LEATHER MARKET

Chennai leather market is weak. There are more sellers having large quantities of hides and skins but buyers are very limited. Even some big exporters of leather and leather products who extended some support to local tanners operating in tanned goat skins are conspicuous by their absence. This has disappointed many tanners. Enquiries reveal that lack of sufficient export orders is the cause for this malady. It is believed that they will start purchases when they have more export orders. For the time being enough goods are available with them for production. At present tanners are quoting as follows:

EI tanned goat skins:

6/9 sq. ft. Run Rs.95, Fifth Rs.75, Inf. Fifth Rs.65 and LIF Rs.55

5/8 sq. ft. V/IF/LIF Rs.70/60/50

All Suede 4/6 sq. ft. 32

Rejection Rs.12 and Langda Rs.9

Prices are per sq. ft.

There are reports of a very few business in the above items at around the quoted prices. Goods are available In plenty in the market. I again repeat there are very few takers.

As regards raw skins the following are the ruling prices:

Raw goat skins

Kadappa Rs.50, Vijayanagaram Rs.40 and Hyderabad Rs.35 per piece. Prices differ for selected skins.

Raw Red hair sheep skins:

Kadappa Rs.150 and Vijayanagaram Rs.120 per piece.

Export Orders

Shoe industry seems to be doing well. There are some big factories in Ambur which are functioning well keeping their thousands of employees  intact.  In order to keep their units running they struggle a lot and sell their products at highly competitive prices in international markets. It is really a great thing. But for them the leather industry will stand nowhere.  A section of the leather industry believes that the new NDA government which has come to power for the second term will do its best to give importance to the export oriented leather industry and encourage it to earn more foreign exchange and create jobs.

Leather exporters receive small export orders in upper and lining leathers at around US$ 2.25 and 1.75 per sq. ft. respectively. There is no demand for Suede leathers and there is no report of any business in this item.

Japan customers are not in the market. No exporter seems to have concluded any business. Long experienced business men who are in the industry say that they have never seen such a bad market condition before.

Exporters are quoting almost the same prices for their goat and sheep leathers as given in the tables below. If big contracts are available, they can even give some discounts.

*نئی زندگی مبارک ہو* 

          *جب سے کشمیر سے تعلق رکھنے والی انیس سالہ اداکارہ 'زائرہ وسیم' نے بالی وڈ چھوڑنے کا اعلان کیا ہے ، سوشل میڈیا میں بھونچال سا آیا ہوا ہے _  ہر کوئی اس پر تبصرے کررہا ہے ، اپنے ذہنی سانچے کے مطابق اس پر رائے دے رہا ہے اور اس اقدام کو صحیح یا غلط قرار دے رہا ہے _ اس شور میں زائرہ کے اپنے احساسات دبنے لگے ہیں ، جو اس نے فلم انڈسٹری چھوڑنے کے اعلان کے ساتھ ظاہر کیے ہیں ، حالاں کہ انصاف کا تقاضا ہے کہ ان کو پیش نظر رکھا جائے اور اس کے اظہارِ رائے اور طرزِ معاشرت کی آزادی کے حق کو تسلیم کیا جائے _*

        *پانچ سال قبل زائرہ نے عامر خان کی فلم 'دنگل' کے ذریعے بالی ووڈ میں قدم رکھا _ پہلی ہی فلم سے وہ مقبولیت کے بامِ عروج پر پہنچ گئی _ اپنی پرفارمنس کی وجہ سے اس نے متعدد ایوارڈز حاصل کیے _ ہر طرح کی دنیاوی آسائش حاصل ہونے اور شہرت کی بلندیوں کو چھونے کے باوجود اس نے اپنے اندروں میں کچھ کمی محسوس کی ، اس کے ضمیر نے کچوکے لگانے شروع کیے _ دوسری طرف اس کے نفس نے اسے اس کی موجودہ پوزیشن پر مطمئن کرنے اور اسے تھپکیاں دے کر سلانے کی کوشش کی _ ضمیر اور نفس کی کش مکش نے اسے بے چین کردیا  _ سکون کی تلاش میں اس نے قرآن مجید سے رجوع کیا تو قرآن نے اس پر رازِ حیات منکشف کردیا _  اس پر واضح ہوگیا کہ وہ جاہلیت کی زندگی گزار رہی ہے ، فلم انڈسٹری کی چمک دمک نے اس کی نگاہوں کو خیرہ کردیا ہے ، اس کے ایمان کی لَو مدھم پڑ گئی ہے اور اس کے رب سے اس کا رشتہ کم زور ہوگیا ہے _ جوں جوں وہ قرآن پڑھتی گئی اس نے اپنے ایمان میں تازگی محسوس کی اور اپنے رب سے رشتہ مضبوط کرنے کا جذبہ بڑھتا گیا  _  اس نے اپنے اندر اتنی طاقت محسوس کہ فلم انڈسٹری کی مضبوط بیڑیاں یک لخت ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کردیں _*

        *اکیسویں صدی آزادی کی صدی ہے _ آزادی کو ایک بنیادی قدر کی حیثیت حاصل ہے _ کسی بھی صورت میں اس کا سودا نہیں کیا جا سکتا _ سوچنے کی آزادی ، اظہارِ رائے کی آزادی ، مذہب اختیار کرنے کی آزادی ، کھانے پینے کی آزادی ، لباس کی آزادی ، رہن سہن کی آزادی ، طرزِ معاشرت کی آزادی ، وغیرہ _  انصاف کا تقاضا ہے کہ یہ آزادی ہر ایک کو حاصل ہو _ اگر گناہ کرنے کی آزادی ہے تو گناہ ترک کرنے کی بھی آزادی ہونی چاہیے _ اگر اسلام سے دور جانے کی آزادی ہے تو اس سے قریب ہونے کی بھی آزادی ہونی چاہیے _ عریانی اور فحّاشی کی آزادی ہے تو حیا اور پاکیزگی کی بھی آزادی ہونے چاہیے _ اگر بے حجابی کی آزادی ہے تو حجاب اختیار کرنے کی بھی آزادی ہونی چاہیے _ اگر بالی وڈ میں داخل ہونے کی آزادی ہے تو اسے ٹھکرانے اور اس کی دلدل سے نکل آنے کی آزادی بھی ہونی چاہیے _*

        *لیکن زائرہ نے بالی وڈ چھوڑنے کا اعلان کیا کیا کہ شیطان کے کارندے حرکت میں آگئے _ انھیں اس کی یہ 'ادا' پسند نہیں آئی _  ایک کارندے نے نصیحت کی کہ " زائرہ کو فلم انڈسٹری نہیں چھوڑنی چاہیے تھی ، اسلام نے اس سے نہیں روکا ہے _ " دوسرے کارندے نے طنز کرتے ہوئے پوچھا ہے : " زائرہ ! اب کیا ؟ نقاب یا حجاب ؟  _" شیطان کی ایک چیلی کہتی ہے : " بالی وڈ چھوڑنے کا یہ فیصلہ کیسا احمقانہ ہے ؟ مسلم کمیونٹی کے کتنے ٹیلنٹ برقعہ کی تاریکی کے پیچھے چھپا دیے جاتے ہیں _ "*

       *اللہ تعالٰی کا ارشاد برحق ہے :*

*" اَللّٰهُ وَلِىُّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا يُخۡرِجُهُمۡ مِّنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوۡرِ‌ؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اَوۡلِيٰٓــئُهُمُ الطَّاغُوۡتُۙ يُخۡرِجُوۡنَهُمۡ مِّنَ النُّوۡرِ اِلَى الظُّلُمٰتِ‌ؕ (البقرۃ :257)* 

 *" اللہ ان لوگوں کا حامی و مددگار ہے جو ایمان لاتے ہیں _  وہ ان کو تاریکیوں سے روشنی میں نکال لاتا ہے  _ اور جو لوگ کفر کی راہ اختیار کرتے ہیں اُن کے حامی و مدد گار طاغوت ہیں _  وہ انہیں روشنی سے تاریکیوں کی طرف کھینچ لے جاتے ہیں _"*

    *بیٹی زائرہ !* 

    *تمھارا فیصلہ بالکل درست ہے _ تمھیں نئی زندگی مبارک ہو _  تم نے محسوس کیا کہ تمھارا ایمان  اور* *تمھارا اپنے رب سے رشتہ کم زور ہورہا ہے ، اس لیے تم نے اپنے رب کی طرف پلٹنے کا ارادہ کیا _ تمھارا یہ ارادہ بہت مبارک ہے _ ندامت کے آنسو تمام* *خطاؤں اور لغزشوں کو دھو دیتے ہیں _ قرآن میں ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ اپنی شانِ کریمی سے تمام گناہ بخش سکتا ہے _( النساء :48 ) حدیث میں ہے کہ  " بندہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف ایک بالشت بڑھتا ہے تو اللہ اس کی طرف ایک ہاتھ بڑھتا ہے ، بندہ ایک ہاتھ بڑھتا ہے تو وہ ایک گز بڑھتا ہے ، بندہ اللہ کی طرف چل کر جاتا ہے تو اللہ اس کی طرف دوڑ کر آتا ہے _" ( بخاری : 7405 ، مسلم :2675 )*

     *بیٹی زائرہ !*

     *تم شیطان کے ان چیلوں اور* *چیلیوں کے بہکاوے میں نہ آؤ _  تم نے جو فیصلہ کیا ہے اس پر ڈٹی رہو _ اللہ تمھارا حامی و ناصر ہو _*
